16 teams in 4-Four Team pools will compete for the national championship. Regions I, II, III and VI have 3 teams each while Regions IV and V have 2 teams each.
7 of the 8 teams that reached the quarterfinals in 2007 are back (Michigan State, Penn State, San Diego State, UCSB, Colorado Gold, Michigan and Virginia Tech). In all 10 teams will return to compete this year from last year's championship division (Colorado State Gold, Cornell and North Carolina are the others).
6 teams that were not in the championship division last year are here this year: Baylor, Boston College, Arizona, Dayton, Florida and UTSA.
The Women's Championship pools are as follows:
Pool A:
Michigan State, Colorado State "Gold", Penn State and Arizona.
Pool B:
San Diego State, Virginia Tech, Michigan and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA)
Pool C:
California-Santa Barbara (UCSB), Dayton, Boston College and North Carolina
Pool D:
Florida, Colorado "Gold", Cornell and Baylor
